I wanted to create a piece that represented the female cycle, honouring the circle, the completeness, the gifting, and the receiving. The facets of the magnificent Woman.
 
When I went through my collection and found this gorgeous banded Red Jasper, all I could see was the blood of mother earth. It is a grounding piece, the Red Jasper representing the Root chakra.
 
Interestingly enough, when reading up on this earthy stone, I came to learn that this is a stone of courage. According to The New Crystal Bible by Cassandra Eason, Red Jasper is especially strengthening for single mums (and dads) when bringing up children alone - linking Jasper to ancient Egypt and the Goddess Isis. 
 
My partner Juan who is a Geologist, just explained to me that a couple of billion years ago, as the water on the planet changed, the iron ions in the water settled, which is why you will notice little lines going through the Red Jasper. This is also called Hematite.
 
So with this in mind, this truly makes for a proper 'Moon Time' piece.
 
The colour purple represents the third eye, the intuitive powers that are known to be heightened during a woman's bleed.
 
Moon Time is a time for stillness, sister time and deep listening.
